Youth Advocates for Healthy Foods: Buffalo Case Study
Rifat produced a compelling case study video showcasing the impactful work of the Healthy Food Youth Advocates, a teen leadership group run in partnership by 4-H and the Healthy Community Store Initiative at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Erie County. The video highlights the group’s efforts to address food apartheid and promote healthy eating in Eastside Buffalo, particularly in the aftermath of the May 14, 2022, Tops Market shooting. Through an engaging narrative, the video captures the youth advocates’ journey as they collaborate with community partners, develop healthy recipes, and advocate for change through initiatives like teleprompter-guided presentations and hands-on activities.
